Mike's Community-Based Representation Program
In 2006, inspired by Jane Salzano's (CSAAC) pioneering effort to promote community-based services for children with autism, Mike Lenett ran on a promise to promote "Community-Based Representation" in District 19. Rather than having to go to Mike's office in Annapolis or the district, any group or individual may request that Mike come to them, in their homes or communities, to discuss any issue or concern they may have. Mike also does his best to attend as many community meetings and events as he can and to stay abreast of community meetings and activities.
Over his first term in office, Senator Lenett has met with dozens of communities throughout District 19 and participated in hundreds of community meetings on an ongoing basis to hear directly from constituents about their issues of concern, to assist them with their problems, and to report on legislative and other news from Annapolis. Senator Lenett also has organized many events bringing government officials on the federal, state, and local level, and other experts into communities throughout the district to address important issues facing the district and the State. Senator Lenett meets regularly with constituents at their homes, in coffee shops and restaurants, in community centers, and in his home office to listen and help resolve their issues and concerns.
